Man Group teams up with Anthropic to put AI at the centre of investing

Man Group, the global alternative investment management firm, and Anthropic, an AI safety and research company, have announced a new partnership. The businesses will collaborate on the design and application of AI at Man Group. Man Group manages US$ 213.9bn for its global clients as of 30 September 2025. The firm brings more than 35 years of experience in systematic investing. It is using Anthropic's Claude offering and working side- The primary focus is to harness AI for alpha generation, defined as the ability to generate returns in excess of a benchmark. Man Group aims to unlock potential new investment insights from data. The ultimate objective is to generate attractive performance and meaningful portfolio solutions for clients. The firm will combine its proprietary technology platform with Claude's ability to operate between raw datasets and investment decisions. Investment teams can access data through code execution and then summarise and synthesise insights for use This approach will free time for core activities including company modelling, security selection and portfolio construction. Beyond alpha generation, Claude products are expected to reduce repetitive tasks and enable team members across the firm to focus on innovation within their own roles and business units. The partnership will also cut the time taken to develop applications and features. Man Group has been making use of AI for some time. Anthropic's Claude offering, and particularly Claude Skills, has solved a specific challenge in integrating AI models into Man Group's processes. In addition, Anthropic's Claude Code, an agentic coding tool, has significantly improved the efficiency of coding tasks for Man Group's technologists. Gary Collier, Chief Technology Officer of Man Group, said the firm has been using AI in different forms for over a decade. The introduction of large language models has rapidly accelerated the pace of change and led to the creation of proprietary alpha idea generation tools like AlphaGPT. Collier said Anthropic is the right partner to help the firm go faster and further because it understands the complexity of Man Group's needs and its products can speak the Man Group language.
