DoorDash and Wing Expand Drone Delivery to Atlanta
Image: Primary DoorDash and Wing are expanding their drone delivery partnership to metro Atlanta, marking the latest expansion of autonomous aerial delivery in the United States.
Eligible customers near Tanger Outlets Locust Grove can now receive food orders
Delivery eligibility depends on order size, weight, and proximity to the outlet location. Wing operates a website where customers can check address eligibility and sign up for notifications if the service area expands.
The Atlanta expansion builds on existing DoorDash-Wing partnerships in Virginia, North Carolina, and Texas. Wing, a subsidiary of Alphabet, has also recently expanded its Walmart delivery agreements to cover 150 additional store locations.
The partnership represents continued experimentation with automation in food delivery. DoorDash operates its own ground-based robot called Dot and has partnered with Coco Robotics for robotic deliveries in Miami, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
Wing introduced an updated drone design in 2024 capable of carrying payloads up to 5 pounds, enabling the larger delivery partnerships currently being deployed.
Drone delivery remains limited to select suburban areas with favorable population density and regulatory conditions.
