AMD says MI455 and Helios shipments have begun as it seeks more memory

Samsung Image: Primary
AMD has started shipping its MI455 AI accelerators and Helios rack-scale systems, chief executive Lisa Su told journalists, according to Chosun.biz reporting cited by Tom's Hardware. The MI455 carries 432GB of HBM4 memory, which supplies data to the accelerator. Su is visiting South Korea to discuss a broader partnership with Samsung and secure additional memory supply. Samsung is a principal HBM4 supplier for AMD's MI400 series and reportedly hopes to win more chip manufacturing orders. Their March memorandum is non-binding; AMD warns that switching manufacturers can delay products, reduce manufacturing yields or impair performance.
