Viral protein predictions for more than 2,800 viruses enter open database

Viral protein predictions for more than 2,800 viruses enter open database Image: Primary
NVIDIA and research partners released predicted three-dimensional structures of protein complexes from more than 2,800 viruses through the open AlphaFold Database. The release gives scientists structures they can examine when studying how viral proteins interact. NVIDIA is also releasing the pipeline used to generate the predictions so researchers can apply it to their own targets. The team used AlphaFold2 with NVIDIA's BioNeMo software to predict complexes at scale. NVIDIA says about 30% of the added protein interactions are new to science in the sense that their shapes have not been documented in the Protein Data Bank. The database labels predictions by confidence; scientists can test them with experimental methods.
