LineageOS launches browser tools for installing its Android software

LineageOS has launched browser-based tools that let users install its software on compatible devices without separate desktop flashing utilities, the project announced. Available at flash.lineageos.org, the tools support ADB, Fastboot, Amlogic Burn and Samsung Odin installation methods. They use WebUSB to communicate directly between a browser and a device. The announcement accompanies preparations for LineageOS 24.0, based on Android 17. The project says the branch is ready for initial release, with additional devices to follow as maintainers meet its requirements. Browser-tool compatibility varies by device, browser, operating system and USB connection; the existing device-specific installation guides remain the default supported path.
