Anthropic Inks Deal with Google for Next-Gen TPU Capacity

Anthropic has reached an agreement with Google and Broadcom to power its Claude AI models using next-generation Tensor Processing Units starting as early as next year. The deal represents a significant expansion of Anthropic's compute infrastructure as competition intensifies among frontier AI labs. Google designed TPUs specifically for machine learning workloads, offering alternatives to Nvidia's GPUs that have dominated AI training. The partnership follows Anthropic's separate announcement of plans to invest $200 million in a venture targeting private equity portfolio companies with AI tools. The three companies did not disclose financial terms. Anthropic previously raised $2 billion from Google in late 2022 and has since deepened ties with the cloud provider.
