Broadcom has announced expanded agreements to produce artificial intelligence chips for Google and Anthropic, reinforcing its position as a key supplier in the AI infrastructure market. Under the agreement with Google, Broadcom will manufacture future generations of Google's Tensor Processing Units, the custom AI accelerators designed for machine learning workloads. Google has used TPUs internally since 2016 and offers them through its cloud platform. The company also expanded its arrangement with Anthropic to provide approximately 3.5 gigawatts of computing capacity. Anthropic said the deal gives it access to substantial TPU resources through partnerships with both Google and Broadcom. The announcements underscore the intensifying competition among semiconductor suppliers to secure long-term contracts with major AI labs. As AI models grow larger and more demanding, access to specialized compute capacity has become a strategic priority for both chipmakers and AI companies. Broadcom shares rose on the news. The company has increasingly focused on custom AI accelerators as a growth driver, alongside its traditional networking and storage chip businesses.
