Bill would tie highway funding to limits on license-plate cameras

Bill would tie highway funding to limits on license-plate cameras Image: Primary
A bipartisan pair of US lawmakers plans to introduce the No FLOCK Act, which would direct the transportation secretary to withhold 10% of annual highway, road and bridge support from states that do not restrict Flock and similar automated license-plate readers. The proposal would permit five uses, including toll enforcement, stolen-vehicle identification and felony investigations. If enacted, noncompliant states would begin losing funding in October 2028. The bill would not ban the systems outright or stop broad data sharing with other government agencies.
