Google announces $17B Wyoming data center investment

Google announces $17B Wyoming data center investment Image: Primary
Google announced a long-term $17B investment in its first Wyoming data center, in Laramie County, with much of its electricity coming from natural gas. A principal source will be a 702 MW fuel cell plant from American Electric Power using Bloom Energy equipment. Google will buy the plant's electricity under a 20-year agreement, and the facility is expected to be fully operating by the end of 2028. Carbon will be captured and stored at Tallgrass Energy's nearby underground storage hub. Google says that will remove a large majority of the plant's emissions, but has given no percentage. The data center will use air cooling to save water.
