Intel and Oracle plan Xeon capacity expansion and X14 cloud offerings

Intel and Oracle plan Xeon capacity expansion and X14 cloud offerings Image: Primary
Intel and Oracle announced plans for a multiyear collaboration to expand Xeon-based computing on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, including planned X14 offerings using Intel's forthcoming Diamond Rapids server processors. The companies intend to coordinate processor roadmaps and capacity planning for enterprise applications, AI agents and inference. The planned processors would add support for numerical formats used by inference software and extensions intended to reduce instruction overhead in optimized applications. Target workloads include generating embeddings, reranking results and running smaller models alongside enterprise application services. Oracle says the future product outline is not a delivery commitment; feature development, release and timing remain at its discretion.
