Microsoft 365 shared plans to replace per-user storage with 2TB pool

Microsoft OneDrive logo against a black background Image: Primary
Microsoft will replace the 1TB cloud storage allowance for each user on Microsoft 365 Family, Premium and Pro plans with a shared 2TB pool, Tom's Hardware reported, citing the company. The change takes effect on subscription renewals after May 2, 2027, unless subscribers switch plans earlier. For a subscription shared by six users, total capacity will fall by 66.6%. The pool lets one user draw on storage others do not need, and additional storage purchased by the main subscriber will be available to everyone. Microsoft has not increased subscription prices. Some affected subscribers may receive bonus storage, but the company did not specify eligibility requirements.
