China reportedly accelerates Windows 10 removal at state entities

China reportedly accelerates Windows 10 removal at state entities Image: Primary
China's Ministry of State Security recently instructed some state-linked entities to remove a customized Windows 10 edition earlier than its scheduled February 2027 retirement, Bloomberg reported. The order was attributed to data-security concerns, though neither the cited sources nor Beijing identified a vulnerability. The software is made by C&M Information Technologies, a Microsoft joint venture with state-owned China Electronics Technology Group. Microsoft said it knew of no security incident and that the product continues to receive updates.
