AWS adds partial image loading to Lambda Managed Instances

AWS has added support for loading only needed container files when starting Event Functions on Lambda Managed Instances. The company says the feature reduces container startup times by up to 70%, avoiding the need to download an entire image before execution begins. Customers enable it by creating a Seekable OCI index, which lists files in image layers, and pushing it to Amazon ECR. Lambda detects the index after customers configure the image tag and publish a function version. The feature is available in all AWS commercial Regions that offer Lambda Managed Instances.
