Apple announces M6 iMac with faster local AI processing Image: Primary
Apple announced an M6 iMac, claiming up to 5x faster on-device AI prompt processing in LM Studio than the M4 iMac. Pre-orders begin October 28, with availability starting November 6. The desktop offers up to a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, with neural accelerators in the GPU cores and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Memory bandwidth reaches up to 170GB/s. Apple also adds Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and available 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet. The machine retains a 24-inch 4.5K display; the AI performance comparison concerns the specified prompt-processing workload.
