Polymarket halts international trading after third-party compromise

Polymarket suspended trading on its international platform for nearly an hour Thursday after what it described as a compromise of a third-party provider. Trading resumed at 3 p.m. ET, and the company promised to reimburse affected traders. NBC News cited a person familiar with the incident who identified the vendor as website performance tool DebugBear. DebugBear separately acknowledged an ongoing security incident. The Block reported $2.65 million in cryptocurrency losses, citing Arkham data, but Polymarket declined to confirm that figure or the precise attack method. Polymarket said it had fixed the issue and referred the matter to British law enforcement. Its U.S. platform did not appear to be affected.
