Meta removes India banking-malware ads after warning and inquiry Image: Primary
Meta removed dozens of advertisements in India for apps presented as pornography that functioned as banking malware, the source reports. After an Indian government advisory led to some removals, Reuters found at least 39 similar ads still running; Meta removed those after Reuters asked about them. The apps could access phone information, capture one-time passwords and banking PINs, and transfer money from accounts. Meta did not respond to Reuters' questions, according to the report.
