Anduril marked the first Fury autonomous combat drone off the production line at its Arsenal-1 facility in Pickaway County, Ohio. Local public radio WYSO reported the YFQ-44A model debut on Monday at the site near Rickenbacker Airport. The company said it took 18 months from plans for the first structure on the 500-acre campus to the first aircraft. Fury is described as an unmanned, F-16-like robotic wingman meant to scout hostile airspace for manned aircraft and fire missiles. Anduril hopes to build 150 of the drones a year at the plant. Cofounder Matt Grimm cast the line as a push into unmanned and autonomous air power in Ohio. Arsenal-1 received a state-record $310 million JobsOhio grant and is expected to create 4,000 jobs by 2035 when the campus is finished. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine spoke at the event, tying the project to the state's aviation history.
