DoorDash has agreed to buy Instacart in a cash-and-stock deal valuing the grocery delivery company at about $17bn. Shareholders can choose $65 in cash per share, 0.3372 DoorDash shares, or a combination; at least 75% of the purchase price will be paid in cash. DoorDash plans to retain Instacart's name, app and software for supermarkets running their own online stores. The combination would give Instacart customers access to more than 50,000 additional stores through DoorDash. Closing is expected in late 2027 or the first half of 2028, subject to Instacart shareholder approval and competition approvals in the US, Canada and Israel.
