GrapheneOS says its new release fixes Pixel kernel freezes

GrapheneOS logo Image: Primary
GrapheneOS says its October 2 release fixes a Pixel kernel driver regression introduced with Android 17 QPR1. The project says the issue causes stuttering, lag and freezes under memory pressure, and can stall processes badly enough that they are killed. The regression also affected GrapheneOS after it updated Pixel firmware and drivers. The project published its kernel fix and says it is unclear when Google will ship a correction. Separately, GrapheneOS says it found a way to eliminate most additional memory use from its secure spawning feature and will try to ship that improvement before November 2026.
