Google previews temporary CPU boosts for GKE application startup

Google previews temporary CPU boosts for GKE application startup Image: Primary
Google introduced a preview feature for Google Kubernetes Engine that temporarily raises a container's CPU allocation during startup and lowers it after the application becomes ready, without restarting the container. Google says CPU startup boost can reduce initialization times by up to 2x. The feature uses the Vertical Pod Autoscaler and Kubernetes' ability to resize resources inside running containers. It lets teams set a startup multiplier or container-specific rules instead of maintaining extra CPU allocations throughout a workload's life. The preview requires GKE version 1.36.0-gke.4447000 or later; Standard clusters must have Vertical Pod Autoscaling enabled.
