Nvidia explores converting Brightspeed buildings into AI data centers

Nvidia is in talks with Brightspeed about converting telecommunications buildings into small data centers, Tom's Hardware reported, citing The Information. Nvidia submitted written plans after pitching Brightspeed's parent, Apollo Global Management, and has requested additional data and site visits. Brightspeed has around 130 buildings nationwide. Sources say Nvidia estimates the sites could collectively deliver around 1 gigawatt of compute capacity. Existing power infrastructure could support servers, but cooling systems, supporting equipment and local permits would still be needed. Nvidia representatives have described smaller sites working together to run existing AI models rather than forming a single large training cluster.
