Judge orders Google ad-tech interoperability, declines DOJ breakup
Image: Primary A federal court order unsealed Wednesday requires Google to make parts of its ad-tech systems interoperable with rival products, share more auction data with publishers, and appoint an internal monitor to oversee compliance.
US District Judge Leonie M. Brinkema declined to order a divestiture, concluding it was neither realistic nor needed, even after finding last year that Google violated antitrust law in the ad-tech market. The Justice Department had pushed for a breakup. Google's ad-tech business produced $30 billion in revenue last year, about 8% of Alphabet's revenue, and revenue in the unit has fallen for 16 straight quarters.
The Justice Department said it is reviewing the decision.
