Fal announced $1.3 billion in funding at a $16 billion valuation to buy computing power and hire beyond its current 185 employees, SiliconANGLE reported. Bessemer Venture Partners led the Series F round, with Nvidia, Sound Ventures, HOF Capital and T. Rowe Price participating. The company runs image, video and audio generation models through a single application programming interface. Chief Executive Burkay Gur said demand forced fal to limit customers' usage during the summer. Expensive computing capacity remains a constraint: people familiar with inference companies' finances told TechCrunch that gross margins across the sector remain thin.
