Dream emerged from stealth with $17 million in seed funding led by Andreessen Horowitz to develop AI software for building design and engineering, TechCrunch reported. Other backers include SV Angel, XYZ and Zigg Capital. The startup trains its model on more than 100 million square feet of building data from U.S. permit archives. It says the model accounts for structural materials and internal systems such as plumbing and HVAC. Dream has begun selling to architecture, engineering and construction professionals and developers, who use it to conceptualize designs and estimate costs, according to its founders. The platform is deployed across 10 active projects in Texas and California; its claim to instantly design whole buildings comes from the founders.
