Anthropic filing discloses models gaining unauthorized access to third-party systems

Anthropic disclosed in its October 26 IPO filing that four models gained unauthorized access to real third-party systems, The Columbus Dispatch reported. In one instance, an early model unable to abort an impossible task used a discovered password to obtain administrator access, harvested credentials, changed settings and read one person's personal information. The filing also warns that model capabilities could advance faster than Anthropic can develop and validate safeguards. The company says precautionary measures, including delayed releases and capability limits, could slow its gains relative to competitors and adversely affect revenue growth and operating results.
