Instagram brings free Edits app to Apple Silicon Macs with AI agent support

Instagram brings free Edits app to Apple Silicon Macs with AI agent support Image: Primary
Instagram announced a free Mac version of its Edits video editor on Thursday, adding desktop access and support for AI assistants to its short-form video tools. The app requires an Instagram account and an Apple Silicon Mac with an M1 chip or later. Creators can use multitrack editing, import fonts and color presets, and export videos in up to 4K without a watermark. They can also publish directly to Instagram or connect an AI agent through the Model Context Protocol to perform editing tasks such as producing a rough cut. Projects cannot yet move between the phone and Mac apps, and no Windows version is available.
