Electric truck startup Harbinger has raised a $240 million Series D as it expands into battery storage and defense applications, TechCrunch reported. Tiger Global, Capricorn's technology impact fund and defense investor Ridgeline co-led the round. FedEx invested again, and its senior vice president of safety and transportation, Paul Melander, joined Harbinger's board. FedEx also recently ordered 2,000 trucks in a deal valued at more than $300 million. Harbinger began with an electric truck chassis and has since bought autonomy startup Phantom AI. Its broader portfolio includes hybrid emergency vehicles under development and a driverless hybrid electric platform revealed for military use.
