Anthropic adopts website signal for blocking AI training scraping

Anthropic has adopted a new website signal that lets publishers opt out of scraping by AI bots, The Verge reports. OpenAI, Google and Microsoft have also promised to adopt the standard, which operates through a website's robots.txt file. Google and Microsoft plan to support the signal next year. Microsoft says websites that block AI training will still appear in Bing search results, preserving search visibility while allowing publishers to restrict training use.
