Spain drafts renewable-power requirement for new data centers
Image: DCD Spain's government approved a draft decree that would require new data centers of 1MW or more to source at least 80% of electricity from new renewable generation on an hourly basis. The proposal would match each new megawatt of data-center capacity with equivalent renewable generation installed within 18 months before operations begin, and it is expected to go to public consultation before enforcement.
