TikTok announces AI shopping assistant and direct checkout from its feed

TikTok announces AI shopping assistant and direct checkout from its feed Image: Primary
TikTok announced Monday that it is launching an AI shopping assistant and one-click checkout that lets users buy directly from brands in its For You video feed. The assistant provides product details, shipping information, sizing, availability and help completing purchases, the company says. TikTok says the assistant remembers users' preferences during a conversation. The features are being built with commerce platforms and payment providers including Salesforce, Shopify, Shoplazza and Stripe. The changes extend shopping tools beyond TikTok Shop, its existing marketplace, into the broader app. The assistant's stated memory covers the conversation; the announcement does not establish memory across separate shopping sessions.
