Apple is preparing a significant redesign of its Siri voice assistant for iOS 27, with visual elements inspired According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the new Siri interface will emerge from the iPhone's Dynamic Island when invoked, expanding with a "Search or Ask" prompt accompanied The revamped Siri is reportedly most striking when the iPhone is used in dark mode, which explains why Apple's WWDC artwork featured a black background. The interface is said to include similar glow effects in both the Dynamic Island expansion and the text field search bar of a new standalone Siri app. This marks the second redesign of Siri in the large language model era, following the rainbow lighting effect introduced with Apple Intelligence in iOS 18. Apple appears to have returned to the drawing board after some promised features for that earlier redesign failed to ship on time. The updated Siri in iOS 27 will offer functionality more aligned with modern AI chatbots, supporting ongoing conversations, multiple requests in single utterances, and previously-promised integrations of personal context and onscreen awareness. The underlying technology will be based on new foundation models using Google Gemini. Users will also gain access to a separate Siri app for reviewing previous conversations, and Apple plans to unify the separate search interfaces currently found in Siri and Spotlight. Apple is expected to preview the new Siri as a major feature of iOS 27 during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference keynote on June 8.
