NTT DATA Group cuts incident analysis to 30 minutes with Codex

NTT DATA Group said it reduced the time required for a complex incident analysis from three days to 30 minutes by using Codex, an AI agent from OpenAI. The Japan-based global IT services company disclosed the result on July 22, 2026. The analysis had previously required five experienced engineers. The early success drew attention from senior leaders and became a proof point for broader adoption. NTT DATA Group has expanded Codex to approximately 9,000 employees across technical and nontechnical roles, building on a companywide rollout of ChatGPT Enterprise that began after a global strategic partnership with OpenAI in May 2025. Hiroaki Sato of NTT DATA Group's AI Technology Department said Codex has changed how people across the company think about AI. Yuji Shono, head of the Global AI Office, said Codex opens the door to a new way of working by enabling AI to research, organize, execute and validate work. Nontechnical employees are using Codex to build lightweight tools, organize files, analyze data in Excel, summarize documents and script repetitive processes. The company established an internal OpenAI Center of Excellence to support adoption and developed security guidelines clarifying what data can be used, which systems Codex can connect to, and where human review is required. An internal survey found more than 96% of respondents were satisfied with ChatGPT Enterprise and more than 95% reported productivity gains.
