Hexagon to Acquire Baker Hughes Unit Waygate for $1.45 Billion
Hexagon AB, the Swedish industrial technology group, has agreed to acquire Waygate Technologies from Baker Hughes Co. for approximately $1.45 billion in cash.
Waygate specializes in industrial inspection technologies including non-destructive testing equipment and radiography systems. The unit serves energy, aerospace, and infrastructure sectors with measurement and quality assurance solutions.
The deal marks a significant expansion of Hexagons industrial software and sensor portfolio. Waygate was previously part of Baker Hughes inspection and maintenance division.
Hexagon said the acquisition aligns with its strategy to strengthen its position in industrial metrology and digital quality inspection. The company expects the transaction to close in the second half of 2025, pending regulatory approvals.
Baker Hughes is divesting the unit as part of its focus on core energy technology services. Waygate employs approximately 4,500 people across more than 30 countries.
