Amgen disclosed a material cybersecurity incident in which hackers exfiltrated company data including proprietary information and patient protected health information from third-party cloud environments, the company said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The biotechnology company identified the unauthorized activity in July and activated its cybersecurity response plan with containment measures and independent forensic experts. The investigation is ongoing and Amgen is still assessing whether confidential business data, intellectual property or research and development material was also accessed or stolen.
