Siemens, Databricks, and FFT link factory edge data to cloud AI
Image: Primary Siemens has entered an edge-to-cloud integration with Databricks and automation partner FFT Produktionssysteme GmbH, RFID Journal reported. The partners said customers can stream contextualized shopfloor and plant data from Siemens Industrial Edge via FFT DataBridge to the Databricks Platform to analyze data, train AI models centrally, and deploy models back to the edge for production use without complex IoT middleware.
Siemens said Industrial Edge and the Industrial Information Hub are meant to unlock siloed industrial data and run analytics and physical AI close to production with low latency and security controls. Databricks said it supplies analytics, machine learning, and agentic AI in a cloud-agnostic governed environment for use cases including predictive maintenance, quality optimization, energy management, and supply chain optimization.
FFT COO Volker Stark said DataBridge is a ready-to-use gateway to the cloud for more than 30,000 potential customers and does not require expensive data transformation. Siemens Digital Industries COO and CTO Rainer Brehm said industrial AI delivers value when data, context, and execution come together across factories and plants.
