The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District has acquired five autonomous firefighting drones from Seneca Systems, Tom's Hardware reported, citing a press release. Seneca will deploy the aircraft and a mobile operations base, with software allowing one pilot to supervise the fleet. The system is described as capable of delivering over 500 gallons of firefighting foam to a target area and reaching starting fires within 10 minutes of detection. Onboard sensors support nighttime operations and access to difficult terrain. The foam capacity applies to the five-drone team.
