ATF classifies cyberattack on standalone system as major incident Image: Primary
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has classified a cyberattack on one of its systems as a major incident, a designation that requires formal notification to Congress. ATF said the affected system was separate from its main network and contained information including targets of ATF investigations. The Qilin ransomware gang has claimed responsibility, but TechCrunch said the group provided no evidence such as leaked-data samples.
