Amazon expects 2027 capital spending to exceed its $220 billion 2026 plan

Amazon expects to spend meaningfully more on capital investment in 2027 than its approximately $220 billion cash capital expenditure plan for 2026, CEO Andy Jassy told investors Thursday. The majority of the 2026 spending is intended for AWS. Jassy tied the investment to infrastructure supporting demand for cloud and AI services. He said AWS could grow north of 40 percent in each of 2027 and 2028, from a $184 billion annualized revenue run rate. Analysts repeatedly questioned the spending, expected growth and profit margins during the earnings call; Amazon shares fell about 6% in after-market trading.
