Slovakia deactivates traffic cameras after reported Russian backdoors

Slovakia discovers Russian backdoors in 279 new traffic cameras Image: Primary
Slovakia's Interior Ministry has deactivated newly installed NERO R-ONE traffic cameras after the national security service found reported security problems, including SMS-triggered shell and network access tied to hardcoded Russian phone numbers. The source also reports that camera web portals exposed live feeds to anyone with a device IP address. The 279-camera rollout used part of a €30 million EU-funded modernization budget. An independent auditor is to confirm the findings.
