NHTSA escalates GM brake-system investigation
Image: Primary The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has upgraded its investigation of GM vehicles with eBoost brake-by-wire systems to an engineering analysis, its highest Office of Defects Investigation level. The agency cited hundreds of incidents, more than 20 crashes or fires and at least six injuries, and said more than 1 million vehicles may be affected. NHTSA is examining reports of immediate loss of brake assistance that it said were inconsistent with GM's account of spindle failures.
