Ubuntu puts critical Linux TCP fixes in testing as Red Hat patches ship

Ubuntu puts critical Linux TCP fixes in testing as Red Hat patches ship Image: Primary
Canonical said November 2 that fixes for a remotely reachable Linux TCP vulnerability are available in Ubuntu's opt-in testing channel for 22.04, 24.04 and 26.04 LTS. They do not install automatically, and Canonical has given no date for regular updates. Red Hat shipped fixes for Enterprise Linux 8, 9 and 10 on November 1. CVE-2026-98432 can let an unauthenticated attacker trigger access to freed memory through IPv4 TCP connection requests, potentially leading to remote code execution. The kernel CVE team rates it 9.8 out of 10. No vendor, CERT or the kernel CVE team has reported attacks using the flaw. Ubuntu's older releases still lack fixes.
