New South Wales proposes wind-power condition for data centers Image: DCD
New South Wales has unveiled a framework under which new data centers would need to source at least 40% of their energy from wind power, according to DCD. Developers would need to show renewable power-purchase agreements, meet environmental and efficiency standards, fund additional water and energy supply, and impose no net consumer cost. Projects meeting the requirements would receive assessment within 75 days; the state says noncompliant projects could be refused.
