AWS brings local DNS resolution to second-generation Outposts racks

AWS made Route 53 Resolver generally available on second-generation Outposts, allowing workloads on the on-premises racks to resolve domain names locally instead of sending every query to an AWS Region. Cached records remain available when the connection to the parent region is interrupted, and the resolver uses AWS-managed infrastructure rather than customer compute capacity. The service is enabled by default on multi-rack systems in supported regions. A free trial runs through December 21; pricing becomes $0.65 per rack per hour on December 22.
