Google buys Crusoe's Wyoming data centre site to build it itself

Google buys Crusoe's Wyoming data centre site to build it itself Image: Primary
Google has bought Crusoe's data centre site in southeast Wyoming and will build the project itself, Crusoe said Friday. The acquisition follows Google's announcement a day earlier that it would spend $17B on its first Wyoming data centre in Laramie County. Neither company disclosed the acquisition terms. Crusoe's early work included selecting the location, securing government approvals and planning the power supply. Bloomberg previously reported that Crusoe was being pushed aside after failing to sign customers, with Google concerned about costs and timing. Crusoe remains involved in another Google project, building a data centre campus near Amarillo, Texas. It says it has more than 6 GW of capacity under contract.
