Novocure says cyberattack exposed records of more than 1,400 patients
Image: Primary Novocure says a mid-August cyberattack exposed records for more than 1,400 U.S. cancer patients and contact information for an undisclosed number of employees. The company said the larger set of patient records contained ID numbers but no names or other identifying information. For fewer than 50 other western U.S. patients, attackers accessed identifying information and general contact information for healthcare providers. Novocure said no medical treatment devices were accessed, systems remain functional, and it is assessing notification requirements.
