AI-assisted firearm prototype fires in demonstration after initial misfire

The WASP Cody Wilson 3d printed vibe coded ai Generated gun Image: Primary
A firearm that Defense Distributed says was designed through dialogue with its GatGPT model fired twice after an initial misfire during a demonstration witnessed by The Verge. Cody Wilson described the WASP as a proof of concept for AI-generated gun designs. Chat logs viewed by the publication showed an employee requesting a variation on an existing design and approving the model's plan before the team manufactured it. The demonstration establishes limited functionality, rather than reliable operation: a firearms expert consulted by The Verge called the prototype only marginally functional and questioned its grip, sights and exposed trigger.
