Verge test finds lower delivery total through Bites in ChatGPT

Two robot arms exchanging a takeout food order Image: Primary
The Verge paid $56.73 for a pizza and beverage delivered through Bites in ChatGPT, including tip, tax and delivery fees; the same order totaled $70.29 on DoorDash. DoorDash had higher service fees and priced the pizza $11 higher. Bites connects with point-of-sale providers such as Toast and Square to bring menus into language models and send orders directly to restaurants. It charges a flat $1 surcharge per order alongside delivery and service fees. Its founder says the service targets diners who already know where they want to eat, rather than serving as a restaurant discovery platform.
