Google Home's latest update tackles one of voice control's biggest annoyances

Google rolled out a Google Home update on July 23 that gives Gemini for Home a 15-minute conversational memory window. The company announced the change in a blog post outlining the July 23 update. The longer memory lets users ask follow-up questions or issue new commands within that period without restating context. Google gave the example of asking Gemini to turn on kitchen lights and then saying "Dim it to 50%" minutes later. The Google Home app will now warn users when they try to save an automation that has conditions but no starter. Labels and controls for smart blinds were updated to allow precise positioning. The app also adds a reminder to manually remove or change lock passcodes when a person is removed from a household. Camera improvements include reduced playback errors and better real-time streaming on iOS. Fixes address Activity Zone alerts, app freezes, incorrect online status, and settings that failed to apply. Support was added for two Walmart onn cameras. The camera changes are rolling out gradually.
