IBM completes HRL Laboratories acquisition for quantum hardware expansion
Image: Primary IBM has completed its acquisition of HRL Laboratories, adding silicon-spin qubit technology and research capabilities in quantum sensing, materials, cryogenics, electronics, packaging and interconnects to its quantum portfolio. IBM continues to develop superconducting-qubit systems, while HRL's silicon-based expertise could also support future work with Anderon, IBM's quantum wafer foundry. Boeing and General Motors, HRL's prior owners, will continue working with IBM and HRL on quantum applications and advanced technology development. Financial terms were not disclosed.
