Rapidus signs 17 design partners to help secure chip customers Image: Primary
Rapidus has signed up 17 chip design firms to help prospective customers design chips for its manufacturing process, The Next Web reported. The partners include Synopsys, Cadence, Infosys, Dai Nippon Printing and Toppan. Rapidus has not named a firm that has placed an order. The Japanese state-backed chipmaker already runs test production using IBM technology. It plans to begin making chips for clients at its Hokkaido plant in the second half of Japan's next fiscal year, which begins in April 2027. Some prospective buyers told Reuters they could not move all their work away from TSMC.
